Russ Bobbitt
AAI, CRIS, CWCA – President and CEO
Russ Bobbitt is a Native Floridian who has lived in Sarasota since he was 16. Russ graduated from Riverview High School in 1987, attended the University of Florida, and graduated from the University of South Florida in 1991. Russ started his insurance career in 1991 with RISCORP, a Sarasota based worker’s compensation carrier. Russ handled large self-insured accounts that included contractors, hospitals, and governmental entities. In 1997, Russ made a switch to the agency side and became a producer at Purmort, Martin, and Mercier Insurance Agency. In 2004, Russ became a partner and now owns Purmort & Martin Insurance Agency with Larry Bowman.
A licensed Florida agent since 1996, Russ has licenses in Property and Casualty, Life, Health, and Surplus Lines. In addition to his licenses, Russ has earned the advanced insurance designations; Accredited Advisor of Insurance (AAI), Construction Risk Insurance Specialist (CRIS), and Certified Workers Compensation Advisor (CWCA).
Russ is active in the Gulf Coast Builders Exchange, where he is past Chairman and current Board Member, the Coalition of Business Associations (COBA) where he is the current Chairman, the Crowley Museum and Nature Center, where he is a Board Member and Chair Elect, the Greater Sarasota Sertoma Club, where he is the former President and Chairman, the 100 Club of Sarasota, and Leadership Sarasota, Class of 2011. Russ also coached youth sports in Sarasota for 12 years.
Russ and his wife, Nancy, have three boys, Nathan , Nicholas , and William. In his time away from the office, Russ enjoys spending time with his family and hunting, fishing, and reading.
Larry Bowman
CIC, Executive Vice President
Larry Bowman is a Commercial Insurance Advisor and a Principal of Purmort and Martin
Insurance Agency. He has been a licensed P&C insurance agent since 2002 and joined Purmort
& Martin in 2011. He is a graduate of the Hartford School of Insurance and earned the
designation of Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) in 2012. Larry designs and manages
insurance programs for middle-market businesses all over North America, in a variety of
industries, including manufacturing and distributing, aerospace, non-profits, hospitality and
amusements, construction and development, and medical risks. He also works closely with
several of the top private equity firms, real estate investment trusts, and family offices in the
US, providing P&C insurance due-diligence services on the buy and sell side of transactions.
Larry serves on the Board of Directors for Pines of Sarasota, Sarasota / Manatee Manufacturers
Association, and Jack and Landlords, and serves on the Corporate Committee for Asolo
Repertory Theatre. He is the past President of the Sarasota Kiwanis Club and a past board
member of Boys and Girls Clubs of Sarasota County and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the
Suncoast.
He is married to Marie Bowman and they have two children, Luke and Elle. In his spare time, he
does not have any spare time.
April Gorris
AAI, Director of Operations
April Gorris joined Purmort & Martin in 1995 and has over 35 years’ experience in the insurance industry. April holds licenses for both Property & Casualty and Life & Health, and in 2004 she earned the Accredited Advisor of Insurance designation (AAI). Her primary roles in the agency are Director of Operations, Life & Health sales, and Commercial Lines Supervisor.
April has been married to her husband, Scott, for over 35 years. They have two daughters, two sons (in-law) and four grandchildren. April enjoys reading and fishing & camping with her family.
Angie Wiggin
PERSONAL LINES SUPERVISOR
Angie Wiggin has been with Purmort & Martin Insurance Agency since 1997. She started as a processor in the Personal lines Department as her first full-time job after high school. Since that time, Angie has worked as a Customer Service Representative and is the Supervisor of the Personal Lines Department, a position that she has held since 2005. Angie specializes in building personal risk management programs for our clients as well as specialized coverages for high net worth customers.
Originally from outside of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Angie now lives in North Port with her husband. She has three children and enjoys relaxing at the beach on the weekends.
